DUSNA is a professional organization which fosters the professional development of nursing students. It facilitates entrance into the profession by providing educational resources, leadership opportunities, and career guidance. Our organization strives to gain an abundance of knowledge of current healthcare issues and concerns, legislation, and other prudent issues at a preprofessional stage by speaking out and attending various conventions and bi-annual legislative programs. Most importantly, every nursing student of DUSNA grows as a whole by their development of individual dedication and collaboration in striving to make a difference.
Members are encouraged to participate in local chapter meetings, advocacy initiatives, and community service projects. As a DUSNA member, students also enjoy membership in the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) and the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) and are provided opportunities to engage at both the state and national level. Two faculty members from the School of Nursing serve as DUSNA faculty advisors to the organization.
All nursing students are invited and strongly encouraged to join DUSNA!

Activities and Opportunities
- Meeting Speakers
- Unique speakers come in to talk with members about what is happening in the nursing profession, what opportunities are available to them, and how they can make the most of their nursing school experience and future.
- Service, Social, and Fundraising Events
- Engage in events on campus as well as off campus. Events include making holiday cards for nursing home residents, enjoying bagels for a midterm break with your classmates, or purchasing new and cute nursing apparel!
- Mentor Program
- When you join DUSNA, we pair upperclassmen with underclassmen who have the same nursing interests for a mentorship. It is a great way to meet nursing majors of different ages but someone with the same interest field.
National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) Code of Conduct
The Code of Professional Conduct provides a high standard of behavior (guided by ideals and values) that is expected of students who participate in NSNA activities. The document introduces students to the principles of professional and personal conduct and prepares them to become involved in professional societies and associations.
